cuboids and trapezoids 700 frame 28 second animation

www.kierantaylor.net/vids/oblongs_video.avi

This animation was done using an older 3d still picture that I create a while ago, for reference, this is the post about the still http://kierantaylor.net/1024×768-cuboids-and-trapezoids-background.

In this one, again I used the keyframe animation system in blender to move the camera around the scene looking at the objects from different angles.

A Birthday Picture For Seizmic.

Ice CrystalsI made this image for my good mate Seizmic for his birthday. It started off using the Bezier curve tool to create a shape, then I extruded the back faces and added a bevel to the edges to give it more depth. I then made the Bezier curve into a mesh so that I then could perform more functions to it. After that the spin duplicate function was used and then a grab select to distort it further and make it a bit more abstract.

I used a blue material with light blue colour ramps and white specular highlighting ramps, transparency, reflection and alpha channels were also used to make it look like ice or glass. 4 light sources were added, 3 volumetric spotlights and one area light. The spotlights were placed behind the mesh so that you can see the light rays interacting with the object, and the area light was situated above the mesh so that it highlights the mesh even further picking out the details.

As usual because reflections were used, I had to encase the whole scene in a shedless cube so that the default colour does not show through. Finally I began to animate it, you can see the results in this post. http://kierantaylor.net/35-second-animation-exploring-camera-angles

35 Second Animation Exploring Camera Angles

www.kierantaylor.net/vids/flypass.avi

This 35 second 875 frame animation was done in Blender Last week. It uses a model that was created and by using keyframe animation I set the camera off moving around the object.

Lack Of Updates This Week

Sorry about the lack of any updates to the site this week, I have been very busy with search engine optimisation and other things to do with the site, like the shop.

Expect More updates coming in the next week, I have some really nice new art and possibly some new mp3 tracks too.

Stay tuned!

HAND DRAWN MARKER IMAGE

kza_animechickwivgun1.jpgWell, I have not done a marker drawing in ages and so I decided it was time to dust off my Pantones and give it another shot. It took about 8 and a half hour to complete, and I think the end result is quite good for not touching pens and paper in a good few months.

Letraset Tria Pantones and other pens used:

process black, 3935-t (yellow), 1788-t (red), 351-t (light green), 632-t (blue), 4525-t (tan), 474-t (light flesh tone), 157-t (light orange), 3-t (cool gray), 2707-t (light blue gray), 0.8mm Edding 780 white paint marker, 0.1mm Staedtler black pigment liner.

Drawn on bleedproof A4 70g/M2 marker paper.

1024×768 Background Image Of 3d Insect Like Object

insect dofinsectThe left image has a post process depth of field applied, the right one is in its original form.

I have been just getting to grips with bezier curves within blender 3d, they work much in the same way as they do in illustrator or freehand. First off I made 2 shapes using the bezier curves, duplicated them and flipped them so that they mirror each other. They were still flat at this point so then I extruded the back face a bit then added a bevel on the edges so that it smooths things out a bit.

I then put the objects in place ready for the composition with the camera, then adding a red material with blue colour ramps and yellow specular ramps. I then added a black shadeless cube as the background.

The depth of field effect was achieved in photoshop, basically it uses layers of Gaussian blurs at different strengths with layer masking repeated getting smaller on the upper left hand side of the image, the original is provided for comparison.

1024×768 Background Of Chunky 3D Objects

geomThis is a new picture I have been working for a while, most of the time has been spent on it getting the camera angle right.

It uses a 2d 12 face circle mesh with more than half of it removed, duplicated, rotated, scaled, deformed and coloured differently. It also uses a 2d plane mesh scaled so that it is a thin line then duplicated and put into the composition at various points. Toward the bottom left intersecting some of the other objects is a really big shedless black cuboid running through a path in the centre of the circles. This cuts off an area so that parts of circles are not visible and so that it sits well with the black shadeless background.

KzA: CREATURE MP3 Music Track Download

I have not been posting much in the past week because I have been quite busy. But to tide things over for a bit I was digging around my live sets and pulled this dubstep track out of the bag.

CREATURE

1024×768 Abstract Glass Slinky Wallpaper Background

slinky This time I have made an abstract glass slinky thing mess which looks cool!

This one was pretty simple to pull off. I created a 2d circle mesh, extruded it so that it becomes a nice 3d shape. Then I went a bit mad on the duplicate spin function, spinning it at different angles so it ended up like a knotted slinky. I then made it look like glass by adding a material to it, finally adding a shadeless white cube as a boundary to lock it all into.

An Ad For DJ Clinton At www.hardcoreremorse.co.nr

HCRFMDj Clinton from www.hardcoreremorse.co.nr asked me to produce a web advert for his new hardcore music cd album.

For this image i used a 12 edge 2d circle. Then i removed one of the faces of the circle so that the mesh had a gap in it. Then, extruding the edges to make faces and extruding again upward so that the object became three dimensional.

Duplicating the shape, I then rotated it on the x axis, repeating these steps till I had loads of them facing in different ways along the x axis. Then finally grouping them all together so that adding materials would be a lot easier.

I then added the text, a black shadless cube as the boundary, a high intensity volumetric spotlight and an area light.
